Who we are ...

We are a small General Contractor construction business with a solid reputation for quality craftsmanship, and dependable service.  We specialize in work that many large or 'new construction only' contractors do not do or shy away from.  From repair work on most all components of a home, to remodeling, to complete makeovers -- We are among the very best you will find.  Not only in the quality of our work, but in how we treat our customers.

Alongside his extensive career as an artist, illustrator and graphic designer, Wayne comes from a family background in and with considerable experience in residential construction work.  His father was a General Contractor of impeccable reputation for some 40 years, and prior to that was involved in managing lumber companies and other residential oriented construction enterprises.  Wayne mentions "I like to say that my beginnings in the 'building and fixing things' business were when we lived right next door to the lumber yard my dad managed, and the lumberyard was my playground, much to my Dad's and the yard men's consternations".  Needless to say, Wayne began building things and working with wood at a young age.   Later in life he worked from time to time for his father, along with many projects for himself on his own properties.

Wayne is also an accomplished artist and designer, having received his degree in design from one of the most prestigious design colleges in the nation in 1973.  His skills in design bring an unusual additional offering to customers -- He not only understands construction methods and materials, he can often offer ideas to make the results more visually appealing and efficient, and thereby deriving the most valuable results for the customer -- and for no extra cost.  "Some people don't quite understand the parallel careers I have had, thinking there cannot be a logical relationship of the two.  For me at least, nothing could be farther from the truth.  While my art is certainly a whole different thing in most regards, construction remodeling and all related in that business, most certainly does have an overlapping use of my skills, but also of my interests in design, form, and function."

Wife and business partner Carolyn Snyder, brings a lifetime of work in office and organizational skills.  Carolyn takes care of office duties, and many of the details involved in running a very organized small business.  Like Wayne, she truly enjoys and takes pride in how their home remodeling and improvement work has made such happy 'after' results for people.

A few things that set us apart from some of the other guys

  *  We are a 100% legal business in the state of Washington.  We are fully licensed, bonded, and insured.

 *  When we say we will do something --- We do it.  From returning inquiry calls, to being on time to meet with you, to starting and finishing the job ---- Unlike some others, being considerate of our customers is at the top of our list of priorities.

 *  When we commit to a job, we do not skip around between other jobs. There are many home repair/remodeling people who work on several jobs at one time, working on one for a time, then going to another one for a day or two, and so on.  While this may lock in more work and profit for them, it also puts each of their customers into a situation of not having work on their homes completed in a timelier manner.  We prefer to do one job at a time from start to finish.  We schedule our work accordingly, one job at a time, and we've found that our customers are willing to wait for us knowing that when we start their job we will be there to complete it as soon as possible.

*  Unlike others, our contracts and work descriptions are concise and detailed.  We spell out exactly what we will be doing, not doing, and the price and payment's schedule for the work described in the agreement.  This means there are no confusions or miscommunications about what you are paying for.

* Unlike others, we do not 'mark-up' materials and supplies needed for your job.  Many contractors typically write the cost of materials/supplies into the total cost you will pay them.  It can go unknown to the customer that the actual materials costs to the contractor are then marked up as much as 25%.   We look to our profit coming entirely from our labor.  Along with our very reasonable prices for the labor, we can offer additional savings to customers by not marking up materials costs.  What we pay for materials and supplies is what you will pay for them, nothing more.

*  We typically price our work by the job, not by the hour.  In remodeling/repair work, there are problems associated with working by the hour.  Many people think that if they hire a home repair/remodeling person who works on an hourly rate that they will be paying less than otherwise.  This (at least in comparison to our prices) is usually not the case at all.  A worker dragging his/her feet on a job, in order to 'up the ante' by way of being paid by the hour, is not our way of doing business.  Additionally when a worker is on a hourly rate, their work can be put under pressure by some customers who are understandably 'watching the clock'.  While this might seem good for the work to get done quicker, and to promote a lowest possible cost (which is not necessarily the outcome anyway), what it can really end up doing is causing the work to be done with less quality and attention to detail.   We take 100% pride in our work.  We work for our customers as if we were working on our own home.  We decided long ago that anything that would compromise doing the job right and with dedicated craftsmanship was not our style.  While we work hard in all ways to complete jobs as soon as is possible, we will not sacrifice quality by rushing our work.
